In this role, the Merchandise Buying Manager will work in collaboration with the Sr Manager Buying to develop a strategy from the Global vision. You will build a balanced range to target the audience profile, finalize the assortment strategy, and commercialize it through cross-department share-out.

This is a 12-month Project Hire position without any guarantee of permanent placement.
What You Will DoMarket Intelligence: Provide regional input to Global product development to meet market needs, including white space opportunities.
Adapt business plans and flexing from the end-of-quarter reviews.
Build the North America department strategy by collaborating with the Global team.
Agree on the North America roadmap at the franchise, department, and line levels.
Partner with relevant vendors/Licensees to deliver curated assortment where required.
Attend weekly global calls to share in-season trade and analysis to enhance profitability. Review weekly Global updates and action/discuss accordingly.
Adjust plans to accommodate off-cycle assortments with the Global team.
In partnership with the Sr Manager Buyer, conduct weekly trade reviews to agree on trading actions to drive the business.
Align on franchise and event execution strategy for future quarters; responsible for Jira briefs 12 weeks out.
Approve all purchase orders to deliver the required inventory in conjunction with Global sourcing or local vendors in line with management audit requirements.
Analysis and research to drive NA pricing strategy, including the market landscape and growth opportunities in ASPS and basket spending.
Deliver against department Key Performance Indicators - sales, franchise, and margin targets issued by Finance.
Manage and mentor a team
Required Qualifications & Skills5+ years of progressive experience in Product Merchandising, specialty retail, and product assortment strategy.
Proven experience identifying market trends and consumer zeitgeist to improve value creation throughout the trend cycle.
Experience working with multiple partners in commercial, marketing, planning, buying, and visual merchandising.
Strong vendor relationships.
Strong communication skills and ability to influence a diverse audience including working with external partners and business owners to bring products and assortments to the market.

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $102,000 to $136,700 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
