Position Description:
We are seeking a skilled Controls and HVAC Field Technician to join our dynamic team taking to market new and groundbreaking Liquid Desiccant HVAC technology. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and HVAC systems, as well as a strong background in controls and automation technologies. This position requires a proactive individual who excels in a customer-facing role and can work independently or as part of a team.

We at Blue Frontier are racing to solve arguably the biggest sustainability problem in the world with our disruptive space conditioning technology and business models. Blue Frontiers patented AC system combines liquid desiccant dehumidification with indirect evaporative cooling to reduce electricity use by up to 90%. The desiccant is recharged and stored when electricity is the cleanest or lowest cost, and later used to deliver cooling when electricity is polluting or costly. These features enable our system to solve an array of todays largest sustainability problems while improving indoor comfort and occupant health.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical and HVAC systems, including refrigeration components, hydronic and control systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in HVAC systems and related controls, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Direct Digital Controls (DDCs), and building automation systems (BAS). Experience with Distech PLCs highly desirable.
- Conduct system performance evaluations and recommend improvements to enhance energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
- Provide technical support and training to end-users on system operation and maintenance procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of service calls, work performed, and equipment installation records.
- Adhere to safety standards and company policies while working in various commercial and industrial settings.
Skills and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certifications in HVAC systems, controls, or related fields preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an HVAC technician with a focus on controls and automation.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting HVAC electrical and mechanical systems.
- Strong understanding of control systems, including PLCs, DDCs, and BAS.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.

Location & Travel:
- Based from our Headquarters in Boca Raton (located close to Boca Raton Tri-Rail station)
- Extensive travel within the US is expected
