POSITION SUMMARY
The Bilingual Child and Adolescent Therapist is responsible for counseling children and adolescents who have experienced domestic abuse. Counseling for this role will take place in various locations at our agency including the residential shelter and community Support Center. This role requires a trauma-informed expressive arts approach combined with patience, centeredness, flexibility and the skills to do crisis interventions, brief counseling, and longer-term individual and group therapeutic interventions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Conducts child intakes for children in shelter and at the Support Center.
Provides counseling to children who have experienced domestic abuse using trauma-informed expressive arts and child-centered play methods.
Facilitates parenting classes and provides training for the community and staff.
Maintains expressive arts and playrooms at rooms at shelter and the Support Center, keeping supplies organized and up-to-date and making suggestions for improvement.
Uses electronic databases to ensure case documentation is up-to-date and reflective of services provided.
Facilitates children and adolescent groups for victims of domestic abuse.
Appropriately incorporates protective adult into child and adolescent therapies.
Provides supervision of Seeds counseling intern(s).
Participates in weekly staff meetings to consult on cases and provide recommendations regarding appropriate intervention/prevention methods.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in counseling.
Possess current licensure in good standing as either; LMHC, LPCC, LMSW, LCSW or LISW
Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English with the ability to read, write, interpret, and translate.
Minimum of one years' experience working as a child counselor (preferred).
