Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and organized individual to join our team as a Kitchen Manager at our child care center. The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the kitchen operations, including meal planning, food preparation, inventory management, and compliance with health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in food service management, a passion for providing nutritious meals to children, and strong leadership skills.
Responsibilities:
Plan weekly menus that meet the nutritional needs of children while adhering to dietary restrictions and food allergies.
Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and portion sizes, ensuring food quality and safety at all times.
Manage inventory levels and order food and kitchen supplies as needed to maintain adequate stock.
Supervise kitchen staff, including cooks and kitchen assistants, and provide training and guidance as necessary.
Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures.
Monitor food temperatures during preparation and serving to prevent foodborne illnesses.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area, including equipment, utensils, and storage areas.
Collaborate with the child care center staff to accommodate special dietary needs and preferences of children.
Keep accurate records of food purchases, inventory, and meal counts for reporting purposes.
Participate in staff meetings and professional development activities as required.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in food service management, preferably in a child care or school setting.
Knowledge of nutrition guidelines and meal planning principles for children.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to food service operations.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, and children.
High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary training or certification preferred.
