We need your help to change the lives of at-risk children for the better. Pine Haven is a private, non-profit, non-sectarian, intensive residential facility that cares for boys with behavioral, educational or emotional challenges through therapeutic and trauma informed approaches. Established in 1963, Pine Haven is located on 100 acres in Allenstown, NH and welcomes boys ages 6 to 14. Our Education division is looking for a trauma informed leader for the position of Principal.
As the Principal of Pine Haven Boys Center Day School, the individual in this role will take charge of the following key responsibilities:
Serving as the site administrator and instructional leader
Overseeing the school-wide curriculum and managing all instructional programs within the facility
Supervising, evaluating, and providing leadership and administrative support for all school staff
Ensuring compliance with special education rules, regulations, and laws pertaining to New Hampshire approved Private Special Education Schools
Fostering a positive learning environment for all students, staff, and personnel within the school setting
In addition, the Principal will also:
Oversee the monitoring and coordination of all special education services including assessments, progress monitoring, IEPs, specially designed instruction and related services, annual reviews, and placement procedures
Develop professional learning opportunities related to special education
Prepare required reports and actively participate in and oversee various school-based meetings within the facility and with the local LEAs whose students are served by The Pine Haven Boys Center
Assist in the development of policies, procedures, and regulations for the special education program to include the development and implementation of a master schedule
Monitor and carry out administrative placements for students placed within the school
Identify services and resources necessary to implement an effective educational program
Attend and facilitate various student functions during the school year
Oversee the coordination and planning of Extended School Year at the school site, and perform duties of Principal for ESY at the school site
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Qualifications:
Master's Degree
A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a classroom teacher in Special Education with increasing responsibilities at the site level.
Administrative experience preferred in one or more areas of General and/or Special Education Administration
Demonstrates knowledge of Special Education Laws, Rules, Procedures, and Programs
Must be able to be certified in crisis intervention and CPR / BLS.
Must be able to de-escalate situations through verbal intervention and facilitate a restorative conversation
Must be a New Hampshire Certified Principal or able to obtain certification.
