Location Overview
Crown Cork & Seal in Effingham, South Carolina is a state-of-the-art facility that produces various size food cans with one of South Carolina's leading Food producers as a major client. We are looking for dynamic individuals to join our team. This is your opportunity to join Crown's global organization and we are looking for an EHS/QA Coordinator.
Position Overview
This position will be responsible for EHS compliance and supporting the quality department for the plant and report directly to the Quality Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities-Essential Functions
- Ensure facility conformance with all applicable federal, state, local, and corporate environmental, health, and safety laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines as well as maintaining appropriate documentation.
- Ensure that all employee training is completed, documented, and maintained in regard to regulatory requirements
- Monitor follow-ups and corrective action resulting from all corporate and plant environmental, health, and safety audits
- Ensure all key managers are certified in Level I, II, and III compliance training
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for the plant.
- Provide safety training to all new employees as part of our onboarding program
- Detailed Injury root cause analysis and incident reporting
- Contingency and emergency preparedness planning
- Pollution prevention and waste minimization
- Hazardous waste, air programs, water programs, and community Right to Know
- Evacuation and emergency take-cover drills
- Providing data required for all aspects of SARA Title III reporting including Tier II and Form R reports
- Title V Air Emission reporting, contingency plan, chemical exposure
- Hazard communication
- Noise exposure and audiometric management
- Control of hazardous energy
- Daily monitoring of quality to ensure production is within specifications
- Follow HFI procedures to prevent the release of bad product
- Assist the QA manager in preparing the annual SQF audit
- Adhere to all food safety procedures and measures
- Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- 1-3 years’ experience in an environmental, health and safety role
- 1-3 years’ experience in quality control
- Ability to work day shift
Preferred requirements
Required Knowledge
- Environmental Health and Safety: Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations
- Clerical: Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as Microsoft office, managing records, and other office functions
- Quality Control: Knowledge of general procedures for quality control and record keeping of quality data
Required Skills
- Computer use: Use of computer software to maintain records and communicate plant resource consumption
- Critical Thinking: Use of logic and reasoning to identify potential solutions or approaches to problems
- Customer Service: Display customer needs assessment and meet quality standards for service
- Time Management: Prioritize duties to most efficiently accomplish tasks and maintain productivity
Required Abilities
- Communication: Ability to read and write English and interpret spoken direction
- Organization: Ability to maintain an organized work area
Physical Requirements
- Occasional keeling/crouching required
- Ability to lift 15 pounds
- Frequent periods of walking or standing in place
Environmental Exposures
- Operating machinery produces at least 85 decibels (dB) of noise.
- The industrial duties of this position may expose the employee to odors, wetness, dirt, and dust.
