Media Engineering
Media Engineering is an innovative organization that is focused on providing the best possible video playback experience, art, and metadata to customers around the world, powered by exceptional technology. This strategic work requires streamlining and repurposing technology across different business and distribution channels - including streaming, linear, and theatrical - so that technology can ebb and flow across the needs of the business.
The Supply Chain Tools team is looking for a motivated engineering manager to lead and help build the technology backbone of our streaming content pipeline! Our full-stack team is unifying and modernizing Hulu and Disney+ systems, tools and services that synthesize content from over 500 partners to deliver the best streaming experience to millions of users. We are looking for an engineering manager who will nurture ownership and empowerment and drive the development of these critical applications.
Responsibilities Build a diverse software development team through training, career development, recruiting, and process improvements
Lead the roadmap and engineering vision for a critical suite of tools within the Disney streaming platform
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other business partners to prioritize work and set goals for the team
Refine engineering practices and enact positive change within the team
Champion your team's work across the organization
Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field), or equivalent training or work experience
8+ years of proven experience with at least 2+ years of technical and engineering leadership experience
Experience leading software engineering teams to build distributed software services and user-facing products, run multiple concurrent projects of high technical complexity and deliver high efficiency processing systems
Hands-on experience with some combination of Java/Spring, React, Webpack, Python, and the AWS ecosystem of services
A tendency to delegate, but with the ability to get hands-on when needed
Ability to work in an environment where services are available 24x7 and on-call incidents may occur
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA and in New York City, NY is $172,282 to $231,110 per year; the hiring range for this position in Santa Monica/Burbank/Glendale/L.A., California and in Bristol, Connecticut is $164,492 to $220,660; and the hiring range for this position in San Francisco, California is $180,154 to $241,670 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
