Honda Racing Corporation USA, formerly HPD a leader in motorsports racing, is seeking a highly organized and detailed oriented Sr. Vehicle Performance Engineer to join its Racing Program.
Sr. Vehicle Performance Engineer
Seek to optimize racing car designs, configurations, and operations, for on-track performance, using predictive simulation technologies, physical testing, and analytical methods.

Job Responsibilities
- Predictive performance simulation and analysis for racing car configurations.
- Analyze data, and report findings to racing team clients and HRC, vehicle simulation, and real-world testing.
- Guide HRC engineering groups and racing teams to maximize powertrain performance, contributing to total car performance.
- Perform optimizations of free vehicle parameters.
- Design, process and interpret vehicle dynamics performance experiments.
- Prepare model parameters and configure software to perform vehicle performance simulation studies and post process data.
- Calibrate and validate HRC vehicle performance models using real-world vehicle and track data.
- Generate summary correlation reports.
- Create, develop, debug and validate vehicle modelling simulation tools.
- Develop software within the ecosystem of HRC s vehicle performance tools and methods.
- Develop tools for competitor analysis, and execute competitor analyses.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Master's Degree is preferred.
- 5 years of configuration, operation, and validation of vehicle dynamics simulation software: offline lap simulation, dynamic parametric models, multi-body models.
- 5 years of processing and analysis of time-series data in time, frequency, and spatial domains (visualization, signal processing), using MATLAB or Python.
- Proficient with analysis of on-vehicle racing car data (logged data, telemetry, etc).
- Practical Experience with racing car set-up problems and methodologies.
- Familiar with test planning, execution, and data analysis using vehicle dynamics test rigs (CG Height/Inertia, Kinematics & Compliance, shaker rigs, damper dynamometer).
- Familiar with systematic design of experiments.
- Proficient in statistical analysis of experimental data.
- Proficient in the use of supervised machine learning technologies, for regression of non-linear models.
- Technical knowledge of vehicle dynamics principles and chassis systems: aerodynamics, suspension, tires, etc.
- Expert understanding of limit-handling vehicle dynamics principles, and their practical application.
- Proficient in limit-handling vehicle dynamics theory: grip, handling balance and stability principles.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities with little supervision.
- Must be flexible and comfortable working in an environment with regular changes in direction and scope.
- Must be results oriented.
- Comprehensive understanding of current industry trends and technologies, and how to effectively incorporate those trends/tools into events.
- Ability to oversee projects with partners; provide constructive feedback and drive work forward with them to deliver a high-quality product/program.
- Strong verbal and presentation skills.

- Competitive base salary $104,000-$155,900
Pay will be based on several variables that include, but not limited to geographic location, work experience, education, etc.
