We are seeking an experienced Billing Specialist for our billing department and ensure efficient and accurate processing of billing services. This position has a quick path to management overseeing billing proceedures.

Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Supervision:
- Oversee the daily operations of the billing department, including staff supervision, training, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and implement billing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, promoting teamwork and professional development. Billing and Coding:
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of claims using appropriate coding (ICD-10, CPT) specific to behavioral health services.
- Review and resolve coding issues to minimize claim denials and optimize reimbursement.
- Support billing services customers and provide prompt and timely responses.
Claims Management:
- Monitor and manage the entire claims process, from submission to payment, including tracking and resolving denied or unpaid claims.
- Analyze denial patterns and implement corrective actions to reduce future occurrences. Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) and Payment Posting:
- Oversee the electronic remittance advice process, ensuring accurate and timely posting of payments.
- Reconcile payments and manage discrepancies between billed amounts and received payments.
- Prepare monthly claims and services reports for internal billing Authorization and Verification:
- Ensure pre-authorization and insurance verification processes are conducted accurately and efficiently.
- Work closely with clinical staff to obtain necessary authorizations for services rendered. Electronic Data Interchange (EDI):
- Manage and oversee EDI processes to ensure accurate and secure electronic transactions with payers. •
- Troubleshoot and resolve EDI-related issues to maintain smooth data exchange. Compliance and Audit:
- Ensure billing practices comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines, including HIPAA and CMS.
- Maintain thorough documentation and audit trails for all billing activities and transactions. Reporting and Analytics:
- Generate and analyze financial and operational reports to assess the performance of the billing department.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management for improving revenue cycle efficiency.
Qualifications Education:
- Associates degree in healthcare administration, business, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Certification in medical billing and coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is highly desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical billing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a behavioral health setting.
- Proven experience with billing services, coding, claims management, ERA, authorization processes, and EDI.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of behavioral health billing practices, insurance regulations, and coding standards.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in billing software and EHR systems.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
