Job Description At Houston Methodist, the Imaging Systems Administrator position is responsible for the operations and network management of one or more Imaging system(s) for one or multiple departments. The Imaging Systems Administrator is responsible for the imaging information systems to include the daily computer operations, equipment interfaces, and implementation of software upgrades and maintenance of systems. This position is responsible for identifying, evaluating, analyzing, troubleshooting and recommending changes in support of assigned applications and systems. The Imaging Systems Administrator position supports the planning design, development, build, or configuration of supported applications and systems. This position coordinates conversions, application and system testing and documentation of system procedures, participates and provides input in training design and development, and assists in training execution related to assigned projects. Works in partnership with IT, serves as a liaison between management, staff, physicians, and vendors for routine matters as the primary point of contact, resolving questions and issues.
PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Promotes a positive work environment and contributes to a dynamic, team focused work unit that actively helps one other to achieve optimal department results. Collaborates with all members of the patient care team by actively communicating and reporting pertinent information as it relates to assigned system(s) in a comprehensive manner.
- Serves as a liaison between assigned departments and other departments related to imaging system initiatives, procedures, and assisting with existing or new imaging system endeavors.
- Provides education and training to new staff members, including physicians on use of assigned system(s) as well as on-going training as needed. Coordinates and conducts training for new system implementations or software upgrades.
SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Ensures timely and complete capture of digital images (DICOM, angiographic, ultrasound, or other as relevant) into assigned system(s) including network transmission, validation and imaging reconciliation issues. Configures modalities as appropriate to assigned system(s), which may include those needed for procedure rooms and hybrid OR.
- Manages user rights and the granting of database privileges, updating physicians' database as needed for assigned system(s). Provides for efficient workflow processes.
- Coordinates and manages all vendor installation, implementations, and demonstrations in conjunction with IT and other impacted departments for assigned system(s). Effectively coordinates resources for timely delivery of projects.
- Provides go live and downtime support and serves as the primary point of contact for on-going production maintenance, support and troubleshooting.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Ensures the efficient and effective functionality and reporting of assigned system(s). Maintains control files, databases, system functions; develops, implements, and manages quality control programs. Develops and provides reports for performance indicators and other imaging operation outcomes and metrics.
- Monitors systems for unreconciled imaging issues in patient information and makes corrections as needed. Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement to management.
- Monitors and manages operations of assigned system(s) including image workflow, archiving, auto routing, pre-fetching, and other related activities. Troubleshoots problems and collaborates with IT to resolve issues related to assigned system(s) and application(s). Investigates and resolves problems or presents proposals for solutions as needed. Develops, maintains, and communicates contingency plans for planned and unplanned downtimes to assigned system(s).
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Provides input into budgetary needs for assigned system(s), monitoring expenditures and maintaining the operating budget. Identifies present and future requirements. Maintains a current inventory of all related equipment including servers for assigned system(s). Maintains dictionaries for procedure-specific libraries, equipment, and inventory listing in coordination with materials management and department management.
- May perform daily charge reconciliation process as applicable, updates system(s) as needed.
- Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies. Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks.
GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Participates in departmental projects and shared governance activities; manages and leads projects related to optimization of assigned system(s).
- Seeks opportunities to expand knowledge and skill set to support new technology related to assigned system(s) and applications.

EDUCATION- Graduate of education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications, Licenses and Registrations section OR High School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education, etc.)
WORK EXPERIENCE- Three years experience in Information Technology, Imaging System Administration (PACS) preferred OR Three years clinical experience as an Imaging Technologist
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS - REQUIRED- If Clinical:
- • Must have one of the following certifications:
ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (BD, BS, CI, CV, CT, MR, M, N, T, R, RRA, S, VI or VS)
NMTCB -Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (CNMT)
ARDMS - American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS, RDCS, RVT, or RMSKS)
CCI - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (ACS, RCCS, RCS or RVS) AND - CMRT - Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist - State Licensure thru the Texas Medical Board for ARRT and NMTCB certifications
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS - PREFERRED- CIIP - Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (ABII) through the Society of Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) - If Clinical
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES- Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations
- Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security

- Possesses basic computer knowledge; operates multiple computer systems to include, Hospital / Radiology Information Systems and Office software to maintain patient and exam documents.
- Exhibits strong interpersonal and team player skills with all levels of the healthcare team and assures delivery of excellent customer service to all patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers.
- Adapts to multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision including, organizing work flow and actively participating in problem-solving.
- Ability to support and troubleshoot equipment integration build, and medical and communication devices.
- Technical skills to support and understand workflows associated with integration of equipment and downstream applications.
- Demonstrates proficiency in Information Technology with an ability to troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis and provide problem resolution.
