NY Connects Outreach Specialist-Full Time
The Independent Living Center of the Hudson Valley (ILCHV) is a disability rights organization that is led by and inspires people with disabilities to achieve self-determination and advocates for an integrated society. Services are designed to assist individuals with disabilities to gain greater control over their own lives. ILCHV was awarded funding through the New York State Office for the Aging to expand the availability of services for people with disabilities that will prevent institutionalization. ILCHV is seeking a NY Connects Specialist to serve the Capital District Area.
Under the direction of the Regional Coordinator, the NY Connects Specialist will:
Requirements:
Conduct outreach activities to raise awareness about addiction counseling services and programs - Develop and implement strategies to engage and educate the community on addiction prevention and treatment options - Collaborate with community organizations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to promote addiction counseling services - Provide leadership and guidance to a team of outreach staff members - Coordinate fundraising efforts to support addiction counseling programs - Assist in the development and implementation of new programs to address community needs - Conduct market research to identify target populations and develop effective outreach strategies - Supervise and support volunteers involved in outreach activities - Deliver presentations and public speaking engagements to promote addiction counseling servicesWork closely with NY Connects staff and ILC staff to identify resources that support living in the community;
Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred) - Proven experience in addiction counseling or related field - Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others - Experience in program development and implementation - Knowledge of fundraising principles and strategies - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal - Proficient in data collection and analysis

Please note that this is not an entry-level position. Candidates with relevant experience will be given preference.Bachelor's degree and three years experience working with individuals with disabilities or six years of such experience/personal experience with disabilities.
This position is full time (37 hours per week); The salary is $47000; we offer health insurance, including dental, paid vacation and sick leave.
