Veterinary Technician - Discharge Nurse
We are looking to add to our growing hospital and are in search of a veterinary nurse (vet tech) to work in our patient Discharge department, discharging patients from all services .
The ideal candidate possesses the ability to effectively perform venipuncture and TPRs, interact and communicate clearly with clients, and is comfortable working with a variety of Specialty Departments including Emergency Services.
A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in veterinary medicine as a Nurse is required.
Current CVT/LVT/RVT preferred or educational equivalent.
The schedule we are hiring for:
Tuesday through Friday 10am - 8pm
Daily responsibilities and job requirements:
- Broad knowledge of basic small animal medicine (pharmacology, proper restraint/handling, venipuncture, laboratory testing)
- Sound knowledge of medical terminology, medications and disease processes
- Knowledge and ability to describe common diseases, procedures and surgical processes, treatments, complications and follow-up care
- Perform discharges of patients to clients
- Proficient computer skills
- Communicate with clients and team members (verbally and written)
- Attention to detail and a calm demeanor required
- Ability to work independently at times, focus, prioritize and multitask in a fast paced, environment
- Fear Free handling: safe, stress free interactions for team members, clients, and patients
