Description:
The Behavioral Health Consultant Program is a year-round program providing brief mental health screening and individual, group and family mental health counseling services in middle school settings across the state of Delaware.
- Provide intervention for students and families that address the student's behavior and family issues that impact school performance and social and emotional development.
- The Social Worker/Counselor II works in one assigned middle school.
- The service will include mental health counseling and risk assessments for students enrolled in middle school.
- Provide assessment, planning, counseling/therapy, referrals, advocacy, and collateral contacts.
- The services will include: screening for Mental Health/ Substance Abuse (MH/SA) and for trauma; crisis assessment; clinical interventions; psycho-educational groups; and training and consultation for parents, teachers, and administrators.
- Establish comprehensive plans for services to ensure student and family needs are met.
- Conduct school based group counseling/therapy using an evidenced-based model.
- Provide crisis assessment, clinical interventions, psycho-educational groups and training to school professionals, parents, guardians and family members.
- Adhere to an evidenced-based social work model, principles and practices.
- Document all screenings, assessments and consultations in appropriate database.
- Travel required to attend meetings and training.

Education and Experience Required
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or related degree and license eligible (LCSW, LPCMH, LMFT), required. Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or related degree with a clinical license (LCSW, LPCMH, LMFT), preferred.
- Requires experience in determining clinical necessity for mental health services, and provision of behavioral health services for children and families; knowledge and experience in coordinating/collaborating multiple systems of care, preferred.
- Must have valid driver's license, which meets the requirements of the agency's insurance carrier and reliable transportation.
