Overview: Accountable for operational throughput with patients, families, nursing staff and physicians, between departments and with outside agencies. Provides on-site problem solving for incidents, notifying/involving administrators and Directors as indicated. The AC coordinates nursing service with other hospital departments to achieve optimal patient care. Represents nursing administration and hospital administration during their absence. Talent Pool: Nursing Responsibilities: Serves as a clinical resource to staff, providing advice and direction regarding treatments, medications, and specific policies and procedures. Collaborates with and serves as the representative of Hospital Administration and Department Directors. Investigates patient, family, physician, and staff concerns; determines validity and course of action, and resolves or forwards. Carries out assigned role during STATs, Codes and other emergency situations. Collaborates with the health care team for decisions on patient placement Collaborates with department charge nurses, admitting, and other departments to assure patient throughput. Completes bed/staffing assessments, collaborating with administrator on call in initiate/terminate patient triage. Collaborates with physicians/staff when patients are transferred or triaged. Provides direct patient care in select patient situations. Conducts periodic rounds to each unit.
Serves as a consultant to hospital staff and outside agencies on operational issues. Promotes compliance to hospital policies and procedures through interpretation and enforcement with personnel, patients, relatives and community members. Provides interpretation and information regarding policies and procedures, including personnel processes. Directs staff to potential resources/equipment sources within hospital system or community. Responds to media and law enforcement inquiries. Collaborates with caregivers regarding ethical dilemmas, new procedures and chain of command interventions.
Coordinates nursing services and assists leadership with staffing and scheduling issues. Evaluates census and patient care needs to determine status of staffing, adjusting schedules or assignments accordingly to ensure adequate patient care coverage, with a minimum of overtime usage, on a shift-by-shift basis. Coordinates resources to appropriately meet the staffing needs within the organization. Communicates appropriately to all stakeholders. Consults on patient assignments and staff utilization. Floats staff between departments and campuses.

Qualifications: EDUCATION: Bachelors, Required EXPERIENCE: 3 or more years RN clinical experience in a hospital setting required., Required
Previous leadership and critical care experience preferred., Preferred LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: REQUIRED
RN Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina or a Compact state.
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider

Notary public certification in the State of North Carolina (must be completed within six months of hire).
