Brighton Surgery Center is looking for an experienced Surgical Technologist who will assist the Registered Professional Nurse in planning for and implementing the activities in elective/urgent surgical procedures. Primary service is ophthalmology with some podiatry. The Surgical Technologist is an integral part of the surgical team and the patients' surgical experience. The surgical technologist will provide a positive and professional atmosphere so as to enhance the surgical experience and assure the smooth functioning of Brighton Surgery Center.
Duties and Responsibilities for the Surgical Technologist include but are not exclusive to:
Handle sterile linen, instruments, supplies and maintain aseptic technique at all times.
Assist in setting up the operating room for surgical procedures.
Assist in keeping accurate sponge and needle counts and proper handling of specimens.
Scrub on all types of surgical procedures assigned.
Handle sterile implants.
Experience/Educational Requirements:
1. Graduate of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited program and holds and maintains a Certified Surgical Technologist certification (has successfully completed a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologist and holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization.
2. Completed a military surgical technology program.
3. Can provide evidence he or she was employed as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring within the four years immediately prior to January 1, 2015.
Twelve months operating room experience working as a surgical technologist is preferred.
