Accountant Staff I - Sites
Description:

Summary of Position:
This position is responsible for a variety of accounting responsibilities related to the company's Site Finance Department. This position will also support the corporate finance group.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post transactions to the general ledger, perform account analysis, and conduct account reconciliations.
• Prepare and maintain fixed asset records including depreciation, additions, disposals, transfers, capitalized interest, and capital leasing.
• Timely recognition of asset transactions is required.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of work product, proper accounting treatment of transactions, and adherence to best-practice documentation and review standards.
• Perform control activities to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley Act and maintain appropriate control documentation.
• Prepare workpapers that are organized, concise, cross-referenced, and supported by conclusions.
• Assist mine site personnel with costing, planning and forecasting including but not limited to, preparation of ad hoc reporting and continual improvement.
• Ability to use reference materials in researching accounting issues.
• Desire and aptitude to learn and support the company's software applications, including Ellipse and SAP's BPC.
Qualifications:
_Knowledge and Relevant Experience_
• BS/BA degree in business, finance or accounting.
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Minimum of one year of work experience in financial reporting, public accounting, or industry accounting preferred.
• CPA or relevant masters preferred.
Skills :
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness.
• Demonstrate attention to detail.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to frequently use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. Employee is required to have the ability to: continuously sit, stand, forward bend while standing, and kneel; frequently stand, sit, forward bend while standing or sitting, rotate while sitting or standing, walk, crouch, climb stairs, and perform repetitive squats; occasionally grip up to 30 pounds and crawl; rarely lift up to 60 pounds to waist, lift up to 40 pounds to crown, lift up to 34 pounds horizontally, front carry up to 50 pounds, push with up to 60 pounds of force, perform elevated work, climb stepladders, and swing up to 12 pound sledge hammer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
Working Conditions: Works in office environment and site environment. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Working outdoors in all weather conditions; working in plant environment; working in shop environment; and working in the cab of equipment or vehicle.
