The Energetics and Propulsion Department is an engineering organization in the Mechanical Engineering (ME) Directorate. This Department is responsible for the full spectrum of warhead, fuzing, and propulsion designs/technology, including power systems, ignition, and all other weapon initiation safety systems technology.
This Section Leader – Advanced Large Development Propulsion Systemswould develop architectures, top level design concepts, requirements, and manage development efforts for a variety of propulsion systems while also managing a section of high performing engineers performing similar work.
This position is located in Tucson, Arizona.
What You Will Do
Key technical contributor to the programs and products supported by the section.
Performs direct line management activities for a team of engineers.
Designing and participating in Bid and Proposal efforts,
Activities include career and performance development, mentoring, training, tool and process development, resource allocation, and championing the use of established procedures, processes and instructions.
Will partner with the E&P Chief Technologist, Department Leader, and Technical Fellows to ensure adequate resources are assigned to programs under section oversight to meet Raytheon priorities and commitments.
Serves as a liaison to the programs, ensuring program success along technical, cost and schedule parameters, as well as overseeing section member job assignments, performance, and recognition.
Ability to provide technical guidance and act as a mentor to their staff.
The position is a hybrid role, and the selected applicant will work with their hiring manager and Department Lead (DL) to set schedule.
Qualifications You Mush Have
Education: Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related degree.
Typically requires 10 years of propulsion system engineering or Project Management experience or 7 years with an advanced degree and related experience.
Experience with prior leadership roles (frontline or project leader).
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
Education: MS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related science degree
12 plus years of directly related experience in various propulsion subsystems design, development, and test.
Experience in working with and managing propulsion system suppliers.
Willingness to travel, including international, to provide supplier support.
Supplier collaboration experience and oversight generating specifications and statements of work (SOW).
Working knowledge or experience with either missile design or development, production support and integration.
Experience in business development and technology road mapping
Demonstrated success as a team leader
Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance (Department of Defense)

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
