ALARM DESIGNER
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate onsite surveys with operations team.
- Prepare fire alarm drawings using AutoCAD based on both site surveys and architectural prints
- Calculate, design and coordinate a project from beginning to end
- Submit drawings and track the review processes with multiple AHJ’s
- Coordinate technical documents with other disciplines/contractors
- Modify and/or create processes to ensure consistent production and document control
- Assist superintendents and field personnel on system and code applications
- Assist sales department with system configuration, take-offs, specification review and code applications for estimating projects
- Maintain project drawing files and records
- Participate in design turnover and bid review meetings
Knowledge:
- High School diploma or GED is required
- Construction experience is a plus
Work Experience:
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Fire Alarm system design and Auto CAD
- APS State of TX or NICET III preferred
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of industry codes such as IFC, NFPA, IBC, and NEC
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical and mechanical drawings
- Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
- Ability to work in a fast-paced service/construction team environment
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Physical Requirements
- 90% office Setting, including sitting, some bending, some lifting, walking and viewing.
- 10% with flexibility for site visits and company events.
