ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Director, Communications is an exciting new role that is responsible for leading the organization’s internal and external communications team. Key areas of focus include the leadership, development, and execution of strategic communications to internal and external audiences to ensure continuity of key messages, tone and best-in-class communications practices and processes. The Sr. Director will partner and align with enterprise functions, including Clinical, Operations, Sales, Finance, Legal, Human Resources and support service functions to design and deliver communication programs that are integrated with business strategies and objectives. This position reports to the Vice President of Marketing, Communications, Content and Events (MCCE).
The successful candidate will be a self-starter and will focus on building the capabilities and processes of the team, ensuring effective resources are in place and forging strong relationships with key stakeholders. They will collaborate with the team to identify communication needs throughout the organization, execute plans, create and manage communication content, offer consulting and advice on communications, and exhibit a thorough comprehension of relevant resources and systems.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Oversee the publishing/distribution of all SCA Health communications and develop content tailored to the specific medium and audience requirements, such as speeches, scripts, emails, press releases, talking points, websites, and briefing packets.
- Drive innovation in communication approaches and content delivery methods to engage diverse audiences effectively.
- Adhere to applicable internal and external communications standards for the business (e.g. internal style guides, AP style guides)
- Develop and implement crisis communication plans and protocols to manage communication during emergencies or reputation-threatening situations.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in communication technologies and tools to enhance the organization's communication capabilities and reach.
- Manage review/revision/approval processes to ensure achievement of communications and business goals/objectives
- Demonstrate knowledge of external research and market intelligence resources/capabilities.
- Demonstrate knowledge of web-based communication vehicles (Intranet, Internet, SharePoint site, Webinars, live streaming
- Continuously assess and refine communication strategies based on feedback, outcomes, and industry trends.
- Provides guidance and leadership to SCA’s executive team, shares marketing knowledge and expertise with partners
- Lead communications to drive brand awareness and teammate engagement across diverse talent populations
- Partner with Events team to deliver superior experiences and content at Corporate Events.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and leadership to the Communications team to foster professional growth and development.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree required, Masters preferred.
- 12-15 years of progressive responsibility with Internal and External Communications
- 7+ years of People Management experience required
- Skilled writer with the ability to craft concise, impactful messaging
- Serves as a strategic partner to line of business leadership; brings gravitas in successfully working with strong executive leaders with a distinctive point of view; mature, can push back appropriately and manage expectations.
- Demonstrates superior intellectual capacity and sound judgment to lead in a changing environment; comfortable working in a complex, highly-matrixed organization.
- Ability to effectively lead, supervise, coach, mentor and develop staff in ways that strengthen team effectiveness and efficiencies.
- Team player with a positive, can-do attitude; able to roll up sleeves as well as operate at strategic level.
