Job Purpose Will support the management of Carriers, Brokers, and Third-Party Logistics providers to assure timely and cost-efficient transportation of inbound and outbound shipments. This includes scheduling, routing and tracking of shipments. Will use their logistics experience to lead projects mentor other associates and assist them as needed. Will develop systems and tools or procedures to track lead-time by lane, mode and carrier to identify opportunities to reduce lead-time and cost. Will assist with selecting and developing carriers, to include negotiations of pricing, and will work with Corporate Procurement to execute contracts. Will assist management by tracking specific transportation costs to achieve budget while also meeting published transit times.
Key Accountabilities - Manage Carriers performance QCD
- Manage areas of the budget to include Direct Charges, Cost of Sales, and Capital
- Create reports, interpret data, and provide analysis to make recommendations or improve logistics department and Honda's overall performance.
- Lead projects, contribute to strategic planning and assisting other in the logistics team.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills - Bachelor's degree in related discipline (Transportation / Logistics, Data Analytics- Management, Business Administration) or 4 -6 years equivalent work-related experience and proven record of success.
- Minimum of two years' experience in transportation, logistics or procurement and a proven record of achieving results.
- Strong understanding of transportation cost drivers and ability to identify, track and reduce such costs. Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills, as well as ability to present savings opportunities to Management. Have the insight to develop new concepts and solutions. Proven results using PDCA and CAPDo process and the ability to present concepts and Idea.
