Curtis Lane Equipment is a Bobcat dealership with approximately 115 employees and 11 locations across Virginia, North Carolina, and Delaware.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Human Resource Manager will administer and direct the functions of the Human Resources department including, but not limited to payroll, benefits strategy and administration; leave management; enforcement of company policies; adherence to established procedures; employee relations and performance evaluation.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
While the Human Resources Manager is responsible for the HR functions of the company, he/she does not have direct reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Processes bi-weekly payroll and maintenance;
- Manages the administration of company health and welfare benefits (medical and dental insurance, 401(k), Paid Time Off, etc.);
- Posts job openings, screens and interviews candidates, recommends individuals for hire;
- Travels to job fairs and recruiting events across the company's territory;
- Coordinates background screens and drug tests for new candidates;
- Plans onboarding and offboarding of new or terminated employees;
- Travels to company locations to facilitate benefits open enrollment meetings, trainings, or professional development events;
- Ensures that constructive and timely performance evaluations are prepared and delivered;
- Participates in investigation and resolution of employee relations issues;
- Oversees performance improvement strategy and conducts appropriate discipline according to company policy;
- Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations;
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree in business management or a related field of study;
- Current SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, or SHRM- certification;
- 3+ years; direct experience with HR, benefits and payroll functions;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Demonstrated interpersonal, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills;
- Advanced organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills;
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment;
- Integrity and professionalism;
- An unwavering commitment to confidentiality;
- Thorough knowledge of employment laws and regulations and relevant legislative changes affecting the workplace;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products;
- Advanced experience with HRIS and talent management systems.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Human Resources;
- 5+ years' direct experience with HR, benefits and payroll functions;
- Experience with Paylocity a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer;
- The ability to lift 15 pounds;
- The capability of access and navigate each of the organization's facilities.
