POSITION OVERVIEW: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive HR Generalist to join our Human Resources team. Reporting directly to the HR Director, the HR Generalist is responsible for supporting day-to-day HR functions and ensuring the smooth operation of HR services. This role will involve a wide range of HR activities, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, and compliance. The HR Generalist will also play a critical role in supporting and enhancing our safety programs, working closely with the HR Director and safety committee to implement and maintain safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of HR principles, and a commitment to fostering a positive and safe work environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employee Safety
- Support the safety committee in implementing and maintaining safety programs and initiatives.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate safety records and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Assist in investigating workplace accidents and implementing corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Assist in the recruitment process, including job postings, screening resumes, coordinating interviews, and conducting reference checks.
- Facilitate new hire onboarding, including preparing onboarding materials, conducting orientations, and ensuring all new hire paperwork is completed accurately.
Employee Relations
- Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and provide guidance on HR policies and procedures.
- Assist in addressing employee concerns and resolving conflicts in a fair and timely manner.
Performance Management
- Support the performance appraisal process by tracking evaluation schedules, collecting feedback, and maintaining performance records.
- Assist in the development and implementation of performance improvement and employee development plans.
Benefits Administration
- Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other voluntary benefits.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits and assist with open enrollment processes.
Training and Development
- Assist in identifying training needs and developing employee development programs.
- Schedule employee training, track progress and metrics, and maintain training records.
HR Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 1-3 years of experience in an HR generalist or employee safety role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of HR principles and practices
- Familiarity with safety regulations and OSHA standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Proficiency in HRIS and other HR-related software
