What We're Looking For:
RuffleButts is looking to hire an experienced Global Logistics Planner to join our team. We are seeking a team member who can develop, implement, and monitor logistics plans to ensure the efficient transportation of goods.
Job Description Summary
- The Global Logistics Planner drives the logistical performance through the effective management of carrier partnerships, freight movement activities, and logistical analyses.
- The Global Logistics Planner is accountable for managing all domestic trucking and ocean shipping carrier partnerships ensuring the best cost and service.
- Manage all global and domestic inbound freight movement operations that satisfy timelines, costing, and service level expectations.
- Ensure relationships with carrier partners are robust, meaningful, and effective to achieve high levels of organizational support to supply chain excellence.
- Negotiate with carriers, brokers and freight forwarders to ensure the organization receives the best cost.
- Work with service providers/vendors to satisfy day-to-day needs relating to service level requirements, billing/auditing, inquiries, or project coordination.
- Provide support for rate quotations and project movements, while also maintaining a file for all pricing requests.
- Coordinate regularly with the merchandising team on special launches to ensure freight services support organization objectives.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements across the supply chain and implement strategies to achieve these goals.
- Assess and mitigate supply chain risks, including distributions, delays, and quality issues, to ensure continuity of operations.
- Utilize data analytics to monitor supply chain performance, generate reports, and provide insights for decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and ethical standards in all supply chain activities.
- Track shipment movement and inventory flow to satisfy merchandise movement service requirements.
- Monitor processes and procedures to ensure that all shipping and documentation activities are fully compliant with regulatory and governmental requirements.
- Manage, maintain, and communicate sailing schedules.
- Provide analysis to freight or depot activity supporting performance metrics, contract negotiations, and service levels.
- Identification and implementation of process improvements that have a positive effect on efficiencies, cost containment, or service levels.
- Monitor and control freight expenses to satisfy budget goals and unit costs.
- Manage analysis that provides direction to freight and depot burden tables.
- Manage all global and domestics inbound freight movement, maintaining a high level of expertise in all areas.
- Adhere to all domestic and international shipping regulations.
- Collaborate with the Merchandising during new sourcing ventures so that all import/export rules, procedures, and costs are understood for each destination market.
- Manage a network import brokers and global freight forwarders.
- Partner with the DC manager on upcoming shipments to coordinate best times of delivery in advance.
- Partner with the DC Manager to create inbound checklists and protocols to successfully hold each point of transportation accountable.
- Establish and maintain freight forwarder scorecards along with costing to ensure we are not only receiving the best costing, but upholding SLAs.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in retail logistics, supply chain management, or a related field, with a focus on international and domestic shipping.
- Detail-oriented with a strong background in logistics, international and domestic shipping, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate across multiple departments to ensure operational efficiency and financial accuracy.
- Experience with ocean carrier contracts or experience negotiating high-value agreements.
- Strong understanding of logistics, freight forwarding, and customs processes.
- In-depth knowledge of federal regulations and compliance requirements for importing goods into the US.

- Required Experience with domestic truckload managing FTL, LTL and parcel.
- Proficient with different types of containers used in ocean shipping and cube/weight capacity.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with internal teams, suppliers, and freight forwarders
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- The ability to quickly learn and adapt to new computer systems
- Able to perform at a high level in both individual and team settings
- Self-motivated to work quickly and efficiently managing all deadlines and targets within time limits
