Position Summary: The position of School-Based Occupational Therapist provides coordinated occupational therapy to school-aged children. They plan, implement, and evaluate students to provide appropriate fine motor and/or sensory integration skills. They evaluate occupational roles and occupational performance of students with physical and/or cognitive impairments. They provide interventions based on student deficits and they collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.

Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:
- Perform individualized student assessment and identify specific student needs.
- Assess and facilitate through direct therapeutic intervention student's ROM, strength coordination, need for use of adaptive equipment and environmental modifications, functional mobility and safety issues as related to students ADL performance needs.
- Apply concepts of infection control standard precautions in coordinating/performing student care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.
- Document, prepare/revise and complete IEP's, progress notes, and other clinical record documentation on an ongoing basis.
- Assess sensory-motor neuromuscular, fine motor, psycho-social, and cognitive-perceptual components of occupational behavior.
- Provide occupational therapy per student's IEP goals.
- Provide strategies related to fine motor and sensory integration to student's teachers and other building staff.
- Provide consultation to teachers and staff.
- Assess physical , social, and cultural components of the student's occupational environment.
- Must meet mandatory continuing education requirements.
- Demonstrate commitment, professional growth, and competency.
Experience/Requirements:
- Pediatric focus and/or School-Based experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, with strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize time and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of data and information.
- Knowledge of therapy skills as defined as generally accepted standards of practice.
- Excellent communication - verbal and written, and interpersonal skills.
- Responsive to requests.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and current auto liability insurance.
Education/License/Certification:
- Masters, or PhD in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution of higher education
- Current Active State License to practice Occupational Therapy in the state you are looking to work within.
Physical/Sensory Essential Functions:
- Ability to meet vaccination requirements of partnered school districts
- Requires prolonged standing and walking, some bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching and/or heavy lifting.
- Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity, sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone and other equipment.
