Job Specifics:
The Med Gas Service Tech trainee is responsible for assisting with the installation, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining, vacuum pumps and air compressors in healthcare facilities under the direct supervision of a Med Gas Technician.
Job Functions
- Assisting with servicing MTA accounts for testing and certification of medical gas systems.
- Assisting with the maintenance, repair and installation of medical gas pipeline systems.
- Will assist in performing regular preventive maintenance on various manufacturers' pumps and compressors.
- Will assist in performing thorough and accurate trouble shooting and repair of medical vacuum pumps and air compressors (1.5-25HP).
- Will assist with troubleshooting 230/460VAC 3 phase motors and controls.
- Will assist with the diagnosing of problems, replacing, and repairing parts, testing, and assisting in making adjustments.
- Will gain knowledge of control panels and ability to work inside cabinets with rated voltages of 208-460.
- Under the direct supervision of a Med Gas Tech, will use of a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment to perform duties.
- Will assist with detecting faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervisor.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Will learn to understand operating manuals for preventative maintenance service.
- Will Consult/assist in sales, as necessary, under the direct supervision of a Med Gas Tech.
- Pass along leads to the respective Sales Representative when received, under the direct supervision of a Med Gas Tech.
- May require travel to other markets to supply support to other service personnel in facilitating scheduling and completing repair/PM service work orders (alongside and under the supervision of a Med Gas Tech).
- Will assist in utilizing Field Aware system for job scheduling, job tracking and time reporting.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Ability to carry equipment and climb ladders.
- Ability to sit, stand, lift, bend, hold equipment, and drive for extended periods of time.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time, seasonal trainee position and hours of work are typically Monday-Friday but will vary based on the requirements of the assigned job/facility. Overtime may be required.
- This job can include some nights and weekends, and frequent overnight travel dependent on job/facility needs.
Travel
- 75% or more of travel may be required, with frequent overnight stays.
Qualifications:
- Strong mechanical aptitude with at least 2 years' experience in one or more of the following or related areas: (Electrical: Low/High voltage, control panels, sensors, wiring, cabling; Industrial HVAC or Plumbing with experience in Pumps, Compressors) preferred.
- Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Highly organized, exceptional customer service skills & professional appearance and behavior.
- Ability to travel (frequent overnight stays), work flexible hours & adjust the schedule as required to meet customer needs.
