Position SummaryResponsible for the upkeep and maintenance of Suburban Inns grounds, including landscaping and snow removal. Oversee warehouse activities, including storage, receiving, dispatching, security, maintenance, sanitation, and administrative functions.
Essential Functions- Operate vehicles and powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chain saws, electric clippers, etc.
- Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, hedge or bush trimmers, or axes
- Mow and edge lawns using power mowers, edgers, weed whips, and leaf blowers
- Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges using shears, pruners, or chain saws
- Inspect equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversee general maintenance and repair as necessary
- Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming around flower beds, walks, or walls
- Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, or other grounds features
- Clean flower beds; rake, mulch, and compost leaves
- Mix and spray and/or spread fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees using hand or automatic sprayers/spreaders
- Remove snow from grounds via plow, shovel, Gehl, etc.
- Maintain awareness and knowledge of the condition and location of company fleet vehicles and trailers focusing on routine upkeep (directional lights, tires, brakes, oil, etc.)
- Assist with delegating daily tasks and direction as directed by Grounds Manager, and ensure tasks are completed up to company standards.
- Follow proper securing protocol (chaining, tiedowns) of equipment for transporting
- Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment
- Maintain a positive attitude throughout the day, and keep team member morale high
- Follow all Suburban Inns Processes
- Undertake special projects requested by management.
- Exhibit regular and recurrent attendance records
Position Requirements- Minimum Knowledge: This position requires ability to interpret / extract information and / perform arithmetic functions. Requires typing, record keeping, word processing, and excellent communication skills.
- Formal Education and Job-Related Experience: This position requires a minimum formal education of a high school diploma or equivalent related experience, and at least one year of experience with zero-turn mowing technology, lawn fertilization, tree/shrub pruning, and irrigation system management.
- License, Registration, and/or Certification Required: This position requires a valid driver’s license, signed nondisclosure and confidentiality agreement, and passed background check.
- Work Schedule: Work may vary between day, evening, night, holiday, and/or weekend assignments. Schedule varies according to business demands and needs
- Required Travel: Position does involve travel to other Suburban Inns properties and off-site meetings
Uniform and Appearance Guidelines- Uniform: Closed-steel toed shoes, safety colored shirt
- Appearance: All facial piercings must be approved by management. Hair must be kept well-groomed. All tattoos that are not covered by a work uniform must be approved in writing by management. Any tattoo that is deemed offensive to co-workers, guests, vendors or others in the workplace based on racial, sexual, religious, ethnic, or other characteristics or attributes of a sensitive or legally protected nature are not permitted and must remain covered or concealed at all times. This policy will be administered by the position’s supervisor, without regard to race, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability, height, weight, genetics, familial status, veteran status, and other protected characteristics.
