About the Role & TeamAs part of the Disney Experiences (DX) Global PR team, the Public Relations Manager is responsible for the development and execution of strategic communications that generate earned media in support of Disney theme parks, experiences and consumer products. This role is part of a specialized bi-coastal team that works closely with partners across the DX segment to elevate stories among key media voices.
What You Will Do- Cultivate and leverage relationships with consumer and fan media contacts to pitch and place news coverage of DX business and reputational priorities.
- Create and manage communication plans, including message/storytelling development, asset creation, event planning, issues management and media engagement.
- Lead activation planning and on-site hosting, supporting individual media visits, meet-ups and large-scale events.
- Discover new media contacts and contribute to the team’s expanding network of emerging outlets/platforms.
- Generate creative, newsworthy story ideas and content opportunities.
- Research and respond to media inquiries on deadline.
- Monitor media coverage and follow up as needed, report on media coverage results.
- Manage distribution planning of press materials.
- Lead Global PR projects as assigned.
- Assist on creation of decks/presentations for executive leadership on Global PR priorities, projects and campaigns.
- Work closely with multiple partners, including Communications-Public Affairs, Marketing Strategy and Digital Integration.
- Take initiative in a team environment, managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
Required Qualifications & Skills- 6+ years of public relations or communications experience, including media relations.
- Deep understanding the evolving media landscape and a successful track record of placing stories.
- Excellent writing and storytelling, presentation, and research skills, with an understanding of how to effectively communicate to different audiences.
- Experience managing projects and campaign initiatives with an understanding of overarching goals, objective, and relevant considerations.
- Experience identifying emerging issues and developing communication strategies to mitigate.
- Proven knowledge and experience with a variety of social media platforms/content creation.
- Trusted to maintain confidential information.
- Proficient and experienced in Associated Press writing style.
- A strategic mindset and flair for disruptive thinking, and a unique personal and professional perspective.
- A great teammate who loves working collaboratively on projects and isn’t afraid to share “blue sky” ideas.
- Nimble, organized and can manage multiple projects simultaneously, while paying close attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications- An appreciation for the Disney brand and understand the many global businesses represented within Disney Experiences.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule as needed.
EducationBachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
