The Position: Works under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Supervisor and by the instruction of the Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist or Registered Nurse to carry out maintenance programs for CEI participants. Provides direct care, maintains treatment areas and equipment, performs clerical duties and assists as requested with supportive services of the Center.
The rate range for the Rehab Aide Float role at Center For Elders Independence is $21.00 to 31.50 per hr. Rate range based on the market for the Rehab Aide Float position, as well as experience, skills, abilities and work history

THE PERSON HOLDING THIS ROLE WILL NOT REPORT TO THE SAME CENTER EVERY DAY AND WILL "FLOAT" TO DIFFERENT CENTERS AS THERE IS NEED FOR COVERAGE FOR THOSE ON PTO, LEAVES. NEED OF ADDITIONAL SUPPORT, ETC. OUR SITES ARE LOCATED IN OAKLAND, BERKELEY, SAN LEANDRO, AND CONCORD**
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists participants to and from the treatment areas and assists with exercises and modalities. Cues, encourages, and directs participants during treatments and maintenance programs established by therapists, including assisted dining. Assists and/or runs groups with therapists, or individually under the supervision of a therapist or RN.
Is alert to any unusual complaints or problems with participants and reports it immediately to the therapist or appropriate medical person. Is aware of contraindications, precautions, or other special instructions related to participants’ exercise, maintenance, or rehab programs.
Follows established procedures pertaining to the care of equipment and supplies. Assures that all treatment areas are stocked with necessary supplies, free of obstacles, well organized, and that the equipment is clean and ready for use at all times.
Has a working knowledge of participant equipment and adaptive aides, and is able to identify common problems, assemble equipment according to written or verbal instructions, and make minor adjustments and/or repairs to facilitate optimum use and safety.
Maintains daily logs for participation and CEI statistics, and completes required documentation pertaining to the participants’ treatment programs.
Performs clerical duties including ordering and tracking equipment and supplies, participants scheduling, arranging transportation, making phone calls, or other duties as requested.
Delivers items such as minor DME to participants’ residences or between centers.
Assists in the day center and may act as an escort to participants’ outside medical appointments as needed.
Attends scheduled mandatory in-services and Center meetings. Participates in orientation and training.
Maintains the confidentiality of all company procedures, results, and information about participants, clients or families regardless of setting.
Maintains a courteous, helpful and professional attitude on the job. Displays a willingness and ability to be responsive to all customer groups.
Maintains safe working environment. Follows CEI’s Safety Policies and Procedures.
Performs other duties as required or requested in a positive and helpful manner.
Qualifications:
Preferred, 1 year experience working in a rehabilitation setting with the frail elderly.
High School Graduate or equivalent required.
Proficient in use of computers including basic Microsoft Word and Excel skills required.
Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team required.
Ability to work with clients of varying cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, required.
Current CPR certification or ability to obtain CPR certification within three months of employment, required.
A valid California driver’s license, current vehicle insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
Ability to travel to multiple work sites and participants’ residences, required.
