This is a per diem (as needed) position working night shift in the Progressive Care Unit at Northwest Medical Center.
Dynamic, high acuity, progressive care unit with wide variety of experience opportunities. This increased surveillance unit offers a 1:4 nurse to patient ratio while providing high quality care to our patients. Nurses can develop their skill set by providing for patients that include: post cardiac surgery and Cath Lab procedures, alcohol withdrawal, heart and respiratory failure, dysrhythmias, rattlesnake bites, hypo/hypertension, requiring medication drips, and many more. They evaluate assigned patients and plans, implement and document nursing care, rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, perform a wide variety of tasks while maintaining a wide degree of creativity and latitude, and promote patients' independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills. Nurses also work with a multiple disciplinary team to help manage patients throughout their shift. These include nurse techs, respiratory therapists, educators, specialized therapists, phlebotomists, monitor techs, unit supervisor, director, and medical providers. Requires an associate's degree and is certified as a registered nurse. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
