POSITION SUMMARYTo safely transport patients to and from Radiology by following all safety protocols/processes. To ensure the safe and timely transportation of patients to and from the Radiology Department.
POSITION REQUIREMENTSFormal Education / Training:
High School Diploma or equivalent
BLS is required within 90 days of hire.
Workplace Experience:
None required. Will train.
Equipment and Skills Training:
On job training, safe techniques for handling stretchers, wheelchairs, and I.V. poles. Ability to use oxygen tanks for transporting patients. Maintains CPR certification.
Physical Environment:
Hospital setting, patient testing areas
Physical Effort:
Efficient oral and written communication
Prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping and lifting (50lbs)
Ability to transport patients in wheelchairs or stretcher up to 250 lbs. dependently and independently
Exercises good judgment
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS- Checks all request for patient care information. (method of transport, oxygen use, other special instructions)
- Communicates special instruction to technologist(s), such as "Caution Falls Precaution"
- Logs all patients in and out from floor.
- Notifies monitor tech in CCU of patient location when leaving the floor and upon return to floor.
- Properly identifies patients before transporting them.
- Consistently evaluates patient's comfort and pain level before leaving patient in hall.
- Consistently brings patient chart to department for review by technologist/radiologist.
- Regularly cleans wheelchairs and stretchers with disinfectant.
- Strives to maintain the dignity of each patient by ensuring that they are covered at all times during transport.
- Consistently makes sure that we have the proper amount of O2 tanks in our designated area.
- Understands the importance of communicating with nursing floor with IV pump issues.
- Willing to alter schedule and work different shifts to help with coverage.
