Join us in building out our security program for artificial intelligence. We are building out a small team to focus solely on AI Security and are looking for the right person to help drive this.
The program includes making sure we have the right policies and processes, and these are updated as the world evolves so quickly. Evaluate tools to help improve our security. Researching changes happening both internally and externally and coordinating with other teams who work in the area of artificial intelligence.

Primary Responsibilities:
This role is about managing and coordinating what our proxy and firewall allow and deny for generative and other AI sites. This role will look at log traffic and research what’s happening in the world around us and ensure our blocks accurately reflect the changing and emerging threats. It is also about using our data sources to provide controls and insight into AI usage across the organization.
The successful person in this role will have a combination of technical and analytic skills and curiosity about AI and Generative AI and the emerging areas and how we need to use them as an organization. This person will need to be constantly researching what’s out there, what’s coming, and what’s newly arrived and working with legal and the responsible use of AI team to identify potentially opportunities and threats to our organization
- Understanding in depth the technical and scientific issues related to emerging generative AI offerings
- Identifying ways we can track AI usage across the company using our various kinds of data
- Identifying models we might build to help us
- Maintaining and coordinating the “Allow” and “Deny” lists for our proxy and firewalls for generative AI and other AI sites
- Analyzing our log data of actual traffic to see which proxy is blocking what traffic and provide input into maintaining parity between different systems
- Researching emerging Generative AI offerings and identify new security threats
- Automate some of the manual processes that currently being used
- Partner with other teams such as the responsible use of AI, legal and privacy to ensure

Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in computer science, statistics, engineering, mathematics, or another STEM discipline
- 5+ years in analytics, data science, or AI engineering role
- 3+ years of experience with Firewall rule/policy analysis
- 3+ years of experience querying and working with log data
- 3+ years of python experience
- 3+ years of working in a large organization
- Experience with Palo Alto, Zscaler, Broadcom data
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, or Machine Learning or similar discipline
- 3+ years in a security related role
- Proven ability to work with large, complex datasets
- Proven track record of working in a fast-changing environment and finding creative solutions to hard problems
- Proven ability to work across organizations effectively
- Demonstrated attention to detail

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
