QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Delaware License and Special Education Teacher Certification (K-12) in accordance with 14 Del. C. 1531
Must demonstrate a firm knowledge of special education laws and requirements
Successful completion of Praxis II exams
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
Certification in ELA, Math, Science, or Social studies
Experience in a Middle school and or High School classroom
Experience in creating and implementing IEPs
Data collection experience
Experience in the implementation of research-based math and reading interventions
Experience in accommodating and modifying curriculum
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Effectively support a caseload of students receiving special education services offering access to the general education curricula through adaptations outlined in the student's IEP.
Develop and support the implementation of an Individual Education Plans (IEP) based on state and federal regulations
Creates a safe and engaging classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of all students.
Collect and use data to monitor the progress of student's goals
Collaborate with general education teachers to provide access to content standards and materials for a student receiving special education services
Effectively plan, organize and implement instructional practices by collaborating with the general education
Provide individualized and small group instruction using research-based best practices
Provide equitable access for students with disabilities through instructional and behavioral supports
Remain up to date with best practices for creating and implementing IEPs
Maintain an open line of communication with families about student progress regularly
Performs other duties as assigned
