Responsible for the design, evaluation, and application of engineering judgment to analyze aboveground storage tanks and related civil structures. Ability to devise new approaches to solve problems. Provide sizing to the Design / Drafting group. Prepare calculations and/or standards as needed. Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards, accepted engineering practices, and TF Warren standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide sizing for the structural components of aboveground storage tanks complying to AWWA D103, NFPA 22, Factory Mutual, and other tank standards
Know and apply relevant codes and standards, such as ASCE 7, IBC, NFPA, and OSHA
Analyze structural attachments and supports related to the vessel, walkways, platforms, and other supports
Recommend fab and field friendly solutions when sizing members and determining connection details
Generate sketches as required convey structural sizing to Design / Drafting
Produce tank loads and design calculations as needed
Review, approve, and stamp design packages, calculations, and other technical details
Organize, draft, and implement technical standards
Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed
Competencies:
Problem Solving
Civil structural analysis (steel, reinforced concrete)
Use of finite element analysis software
Experience using 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks
Comfortable reading and interpreting 2D drawings
Experience in working with multiple discipline projects
Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
5+ years' experience in structural analysis
Excellent knowledge of ASCE 7, IBC, NFPA, and OSHA
Experience with API, AWWA, and Factory Mutual is preferred
Aboveground Storage Tank experience is desired, either bolted or welded
Training/Certifications/Other
BSCE or MSCE from an ABET accredited university
Licensed professional engineer (PE) or have passed all exams and eligible for licensure within 6 months
