Williamsburg Landing, a CARF-accredited Life Plan Community, seeks Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to care for residents in Memory Support and our new Namaste Care program. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), under the direction and supervision of the Manager of Memory Support and our Dementia Services Educator, implements individualized care plans to assist all residents in maintaining independence as their physical and cognitive abilities permit.
We are hiring CNAs for eight (8) and twelve (12) hour shifts at part-time and PRN status.
NAMASTE CARE:
Namaste Care is designed for people living in the late stage of dementia. This program incorporates continual relationship-centered care from engaging with the resident in activities of daily living to sharing in social, multi-sensory engagements during the day in a calm environment. Namaste Care Partners must be CNA certified and are required to complete advanced Namaste Care Education and obtain Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) certification within the first 90 days of hire. This exciting new opportunity will be discussed during the interview process with interested candidates.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Performs routine daily care for residents in Assisted Living and /or Memory Support; assists residents by implementing individualized care plans to promote maximum independence
- Participates in shift report and receives assignments; rounds on all residents according to Williamsburg Landing expectations and residents plan of care
- Administers a whirlpool bath, tub bath, or shower at least twice weekly or more frequently as necessary or needed based on the plan of care for the assigned residents
- Maintains vigilance to observe any unusual symptoms or signs of illness or skin breakdown, and reports same to nurse in charge; reports any indication of residents' deteriorating physical, emotional, or mental health by noting such cues as uneaten food, deteriorating cleanliness, or conversations that indicate deep unhappiness or loneliness
- Assists residents to dining room as needed; provides meals to ill residents under the verbal direction of the nurse in charge
- Assists charge nurse as needed with the admission and discharge of resident and post mortem care
- Assists with weighing and taking vital signs of residents on admission and as ordered
- Answers resident call lights in a timely manner, politely, and with focused concern on the resident
- Assists all residents in the Assisted Living and/or Memory Support with all activities of daily living according to the plan of care; documents all ADL's and activities in Care Tracker
- Assists with menu selection for residents unable to do so due to illness
- Assists with transport of residents to doctors' offices, hospital, and scheduled activities as needed; provides emergency care while away from campus if needed
- Assists with the care and laundering of personal clothing of residents and bedside equipment, maintaining neatness at all times
- Assures overall neatness and cleanliness of resident's apartment with all items stored in their proper place
- Performs all work in a safe manner; reports any safety hazards to the charge nurse, and/or Administrator, immediately including improper disposal of medications and sharps; uses safe lifting techniques and proper body mechanics at all times; complies with all emergency drills; maintains infection control standards
- Reports damaged or unsafe equipment to the nurse in charge, the Manager of Assistant Living and/or the Manager of Memory Support
- Maintains a positive attitude to ensure dignity and quality of life for residents, and maintains positive interaction with guests and coworkers
- Evaluates work processes and methods and submits recommendations for continuous quality improvement
- Performs all other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Prior work experience in Memory Support or Assisted Living, preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to perform duties in accordance with accepted methods and techniques necessary in providing optimal care
- Ability to assist the licensed personnel as needed
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
- Ability to regularly and safely lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Ability to safely use variety of health care supplies and equipment such as lifts, thermometer, and blood pressure cuff
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications
- Ability to obtain Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) certification with in the first 60 days of hire
- Ability to work overtime. Employees may be required to work overtime when conditions and business needs make such scheduling necessary.
