Job Purpose:
As an Award-Winning Veteran owned/Woman owned SDVOSB, C&E Pharmacy Services LLC dba Trinity Recruits is seeking the professional services of ABA Board Certified /Board Eligible CRNAs preferably with VA experience, for a temporary 6-month position supporting services at the Des Moines, IA VAMC.
Work Schedule:
Weekday Coverage:
Monday Friday: 3:30 p.m. through 7:00 a.m. of the following day (15.5-hour
shifts)
Weekend Coverage:
Saturday and Sunday: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. the following day (24-hour shifts).
Holiday Coverage:
8:00 a.m. 8:00 a.m. of the following day (24-hour shifts).
On- call duty can be expected during all hours when the facility clinic is closed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. (NOTE: Each CRNA may expect to cover 25% of facility CRNA off-hours coverage
On-call providers must be available within 15 minutes by phone from initial
contact attempt and on-site within 60 minutes of initial contact attempt.

Background Skills and Qualifications:
- Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree (Accreditation by the Council of Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs)
- Board Certified /Board Eligible CRNA by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA), and be currently certified
- Current full active and unrestricted licensure as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia. The nurse anesthetist must maintain a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration to continue employment with the VA.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalency
- 1 year of direct patient care experience as a CRNA within the last 3 years
- Desirable/preferred VA experience
- Candidates must be able to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently
- Possess certification of Standard Infection Control Measures Immunizations for PPD, Measles, Mumps
- Possess NPI and DEA numbers
- Possess Proof of Indemnification and Medical Liability Insurance
- (Personnel shall be graduates of a professional, accredited nursing school approved by the appropriate state-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant and must meet the basic requirement established by VA Handbook 5005/37 Part II Appendix G7

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical Anesthesia services for the following surgical procedures: general
surgery, urology, orthopedic, pulmonary, cardiology, vascular, ENT, ophthalmology, and podiatry - Follow all established medication policies and procedures
- Provide discharge education and follow up instructions
- Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and meetings as required by the VA facility Chief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee
- Attend staff meetings as required by the VA facility Chief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee
- Complete the appropriate QM/PI documentation pertaining to all procedures, complications, and outcome of examinations
- Follow all established patient safety and infection control standards of care
- Shall make every effort to prevent medication errors, falls, and patient injury caused by acts of commission or omission in the delivery of care. All events related to patient injury, medication errors, and other breeches of patient safety shall be documented in the medical record of those impacted and disclosed to the patient or surrogate. As soon as practicable (but within 24 hours) Contractors shall notify COR of incident and submit an entry in the VA Patient Safety Reporting System, following up with COR as required or requested.
