The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) is a thriving professional medical society dedicated to optimizing patient care and improving lives through minimally invasive, image-guided treatments. Position Summary
SIR is excited to bring on a Volunteer Engagement Intern to work with our staff and membership. This role will be a key member of the society's membership and volunteer team, collaborating regularly with the staff and physician volunteers. In this role you will be responsible for assisting the Manager of Volunteer Engagement with section coordination of the society's three membership sections, Early Career Section (ECS), Underrepresented Minorities in IR, (URM) and Women in IR (WIR). The intern will also directly support section projects and educational webinars, aid section planning for the society's scientific annual meeting, lead general ad-hoc volunteers' opportunities, and help with finalizing internal and external materials for the society's volunteer program and online community forum.
This is a remote position, with some flexibility in hours and days, 10 to 15 hours per week. This internship affords aspiring nonprofit professionals with an excellent window into membership associations, medical organizations and work inside the nonprofit sector. The majority of hours will be scheduled on Monday and Friday with flexible scheduling. Night availability once or twice a month for online webinars is required.
Requirements
Primary Functions and Responsibilities:
· Leading the planning, marketing, and execution of recorded and live webinars for the Early Career Section (ECS), Underrepresented Minorities in IR, (URM) and Women in IR (WIR) Section.
· Supporting the society's ad-hoc volunteer opportunities by facilitating direct contact with volunteers.
· Collaborating with the Manager of Volunteer Engagement to finalize internal and external materials for the society's volunteer program and online community forum.
· Assisting with finalizing section planning for SIR's Scientific Annual Meeting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:
- Proficiency with MS Office (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency with G Suite tools (Google Docs, Google Forms, Google Sheets)
- Familiarity with Zoom, Microsoft Teams and other virtual video conferencing tools.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Must be extremely organized with excellent time-management skills, multi-task oriented and able to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Excellent verbal/written communication, proofreading and editing skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Skills and Experience Preferred:
· Former experience with member associations and/or familiarity with working alongside volunteers
Education:
· Current student in an undergraduate or graduate program

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Small, fast-paced open office environment with moderate noise levels. All SIR employees have the option for hybrid or fully remote work based on position and job requirements. Use of phones and computers for extended periods of time. Utilize office equipment and communication technologies for conference calls and teleconference meetings/webinars. Requires general mobility to move through the facility. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Frequent interaction with internal staff and physician members/board via phone, in person, email, and other mediums. Normal sitting and standing activities for an office environment.
