DescriptionA Brief OverviewThe clinical educator provides and evaluates clinical education for licensed and unlicensed staff on all shifts and facilitates evidenced-based practice.
What You Will Do- Collaborates with unit leadership to ensure staff competency upon hire and annually.
- Supports leadership by facilitating staff s adherence to accreditation standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Exhibits leadership skills and ability to coach and develop staff to maintain and promote quality and affect change.
- Works collaboratively with the Department of Nursing Education and Professional Development to identify learning needs, develop and implement educational strategies, and participate in learning effectiveness evaluation.
- Adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics and the Standards of Practice in Nursing Professional Development roles established by the Association of Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) to include: Educator, Consultant, Researcher, Facilitator, Change Agent, and Leader.
- Provides patient care as required.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
QualificationsEducation- (BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required)
- (MSN) Master's Degree in Nursing or related field (Preferred)
Work Experience- 3+ years clinical experience (Required) and
- Experience with education, teaching in clinical setting (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities- Ability to prioritize initiatives (Required proficiency)

- Open to new ways of thinking (Required proficiency)
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups (Required proficiency)

- Thorough knowledge and understanding of standards within area of nursing expertise. (Required proficiency)
- Knowledge of JC/CMS accreditation requirements (Required proficiency)
- Working knowledge of the use of established clinical and preceptorship models in the development of clinical education programs (Required proficiency)
- Advanced nursing skills and knowledge in area of specialty (Required proficiency)
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications- Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required) and
- Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (Preferred)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (Preferred)
- Certification in a specialty clinical area or nursing professional development within 1 Year (Required)
