The City of Lake Worth Beach invites qualified individuals to apply for the position of Golf Course Manager.
The Full – Time Exempt with an annual salary range of $60,902.40 - $96,678.40. The individual in this position will work at the Golf Course located at One 7th Avenue North, Lake Worth Beach, FL 33460.

NATURE OF WORK:
This is a responsible administrative and supervisory work directing the daily operations of a Municipal golf course. An employee in a position allocated to this class is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising the golf course and acting as the food & beverage liaison. Work involves the supervision of subordinate staff, engagement in daily revenue and records management, and management as the liaison with golf course maintenance contractor and food and beverage tenant. Establishes and maintains an effective marketing program to improve awareness, participation and revenue potential. This position will coordinate special activities, tournaments and leagues.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Leisure Services or his/her designee and is reviewed by written reports, conferences and observations of results obtained.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
- Manages and oversees the daily the functions of the Golf Course and Pro Shop.
- Supervises the operations of the golf course, provides contract management with golf course maintenance and food and beverage contractors.
- Establishes and recommends the annual operating, Capitol Improvement Plan and revenue budgets for the golf course to maximize revenues.
- Manages the operations and staff of the Golf Division
- Assigns responsibility for activities of the department division
- Monitors daily revenue generation and prepares reports on revenues/ expenditures and the course’s financial stability.
- Works closely with Turf Care Maintenance Company, Food and Beverage contractor and or City Maintenance staff to coordinate turf-care practices and course closures along with tournament set-ups.
- Monitors contract compliance of vendors operating at golf course complex; files reports
- Establishes Standard Operating Procedures for staff to follow
- Establishes policies, procedures, rules and regulations for use of the course by golfing public and the membership body.
- Establishes marketing strategies and ensures their effective implementation.
- Develops and administers performance evaluations, issues counseling forms/disciplinary actions; handles employee complaints and grievances; recommends the hiring, termination and promotion of staff
- Recommends and implements the appropriate fee structure for the course usage
- Coordinates special activities, programs, tournaments and leagues for the golfing public and membership body.
- Attends and makes recommendations to the City Commission and other public meetings as needed.
- Oversees all golf course purchases, including pro shop merchandise items.
- Attends Men’s and Women’s Golf Course Association meetings and works with both associations to ensure the quality of play and experience is maintained at a high level.
- Provides information to the City Commission regarding golf course activities through the weekly City Manager’s reports and other forms of media.
- Directs capital improvement and renewal and replacement projects.
- Establish and maintains the Golf Course website, marketing and other social media outlets.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of the game of golf and golf course operations.
- Considerable knowledge of sound business practice relating to contract service agreements.
- Knowledge of general golf course maintenance practices.
- Ability to develop, administer and monitor budget for operations of Golf Course
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare subsequent reports.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with golf course users, vendors, government officials and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to coordinate special activities, programs, tournaments and leagues.
- Ability to design and implement marketing efforts and campaigns
MINIMUM OF ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
PGA Class A member in good standing is preferred. Graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Parks and Recreation Management, Business Administration or related field; minimum of five (5) years experience managing a golf course or country club at a high-quality golf course operation (daily fee, country club, resort). Excellent business management and computer skills. Experience in creating and implementing sales and marketing programs. Experience in oversight of contract service providers. Proven track record of providing superior member service, staff training and development.
