Summary:
In collaboration with the Director of Education - JDCH Center for Nursing Excellence, Education and Innovation, the Manager of Professional Development provides oversight of day to day education related activities that impact clinical practice and role development in the Department of Nursing.
Responsibilities:
Provides leadership for the development, implementation, evaluation and improvement of programs that support the transitions in practice across nursing, including: RN Residency, Preceptor and Mentor Programs, General Clinical Orientation and schools of nursing clinical placements.In partnership with the Director, JDCH Center for Nursing Excellence, Education and Innovation, responsible for the development and implementation of strategic plan for JDCH Simulation Center.Consults with and serves as a clinical resource for unit and department leaders to ensure quality patient care.Provides educational opportunities that benefit staff at all stages of their career development.Develops/coordinates education plans related to initial and ongoing competency validation and conducts routine educational needs assessments to ensure the relevancy of these education plans.Participates in program development to support clinical practice, scholarly activities and applying research findings to clinical practice.Develops evidence - based educational materials and evaluates instructional materials in all types of media and formats.Collaborates with JDCH interdisciplinary team members to recommend and ensure educational strategies are compliant with clinical standards.Creates and implements educational curricula that incorporate evidenced-based practice, research findings and national standards.Aggregates and analyzes data trends, and implements educational strategies to ensure compliance with quality standards and parameters.Maintains a working knowledge of regulation / legislation impacting nursing education and ensures compliance with regulatory agencies.

Complexity of Work: This role requires critical thinking skills, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to build and foster positive relationships. The incumbent must be able to lead others and take appropriate action when required.Required Work Experience: Two (2) years of leadership experience; two (2) years facilitating learning/professional development and five (5) years of Nursing experience.
