Transdev Services, Inc. is seeking a Shop Manager for its Crescent City contract. The Shop Manager manages all activities of the Maintenance Department, including maintenance, servicing, and repairs of all vehicles at the assigned facility.

Responsibilities: - Schedules employees for the department; ensures the effective supervision of mechanics and other shop workers; administers collective bargaining agreement provisions.
- Strives to maintain 100% PM compliance.
- Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned personnel.
- Coordinates and verifies the quality of work performed by outside vendors.
- Oversees the development of efficient repair schedules and reviews repair cost estimates.
- Approves priority of maintenance and repairs based on availability of materials and parts and scheduled operation requirements.
- Helps to ensure that company and client equipment is maintained and operating efficiently.
- Controls and monitors inventory.
- Enters Work Orders, Parts, and Purchase Orders into the electronic maintenance system (RTA).
- Verifies the accuracy of all shop purchases. Ensures all vehicles are fueled, cleaned, and properly working.
- Develops and implements safety policies and procedures for the department; maintains a safe working environment.
- Participates in the development and administration of the operational budget.
- Identifies opportunities for improving service delivery methods.
- Ensures that property, grounds, and facilities are clean and well organized.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required:
- A High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must have and maintain an excellent motor vehicle record.
Education, Licensing, and Certifications Preferred:
- ASE certifications in heavy trucks and/or transit buses. Or the ability to obtain the ASE certification.
- A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License.
- A current DOT certification.
Experience Required:
- Four (4) years of recent experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of automotive and transit equipment.
- A college degree may substitute for a portion of the required experience.
- Two (2) years of related supervisory experience.
Experience Preferred:
- Bus or heavy-duty truck repair experience is preferred.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Comprehensive knowledge of diesel engines and/or internal combustion engines, propane engines, automatic transmissions, airbrakes, steering, and drivelines.
- Possess a basic understanding of the theory of electricity and also be able to read and understand wiring diagrams.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and the ability to utilize automotive software and programs.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to heavy-duty transportation vehicles.
- Familiarity with laws/regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read schematics and other mechanical and/or electrical diagrams
- Ability to read and write routine reports, forms, and other documentation or correspondence
- Ability to organize and perform work efficiently, strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with labor unions.
Skills and Knowledge Preferred:
- Experience with shop labor relations is preferred.
- ASE certifications preferred.
Pre-Employment Requirements:

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, stoop, squat, and walk for extended periods; use hands and fingers to handle or feel small parts; push buttons; reach with hands and arms; use legs and feet to climb ladders and stairs and talk or hear. Must lift 50 pounds from the floor to bus; lift/carry 15 lbs. up to 100 ; push/pull 50 lbs. up to 8 ; torque 100 lbs. wheel lug; be able to climb or balance, kneel crouch or crawl, and smell; and move the steering wheel and operate pedals freely while seated in a bus seat.
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
- Frequently required to sit.
- Occasionally required to lift up to 75 pounds.
