Membership Engagement Manager

Through its mission of advancing a business environment that helps professional design firms thrive. ACEC Colorado provides leadership and business trainings, advocacy initiatives, and key networking opportunities to connect professionals who improve the natural and built environments. The trade association staff also supports ACEC Colorado Foundation, a 501(c)3 charitable nonprofit, which promotes education in the field of engineering and consulting engineering as a career of choice through its annual scholarship awards program, as well as key outreach initiatives focusing on underserved and underrepresented middle and high school student populations. ACEC Colorado is part of the ACEC National federation, which consists of 51 similar state and regional member organizations advocating for policies at that promote economic growth and improve the quality of life for every American.
Position Summary
We are hiring an onsite Membership Engagement Manager for our team. This position’s primary responsibility is to enhance and maintain strong relationships with the association's member firms and their employees, as well as with sponsors and donors to ACEC Colorado Foundation and contributors to Consulting Engineers PAC.
Essential Functions and Duties
- Member Retention: Develop and implement strategies to retain existing members and enhance their membership experience with the association. This may include conducting regular check-ins, addressing member concerns, and proposing ACEC Colorado programming ideas to meet these state interests/needs.
- New Member Acquisition: Collaborate with staff and consultants on communication and marketing to attract new members to the association. This involves creating effective membership campaigns, identifying target audiences, and onboarding schedules and materials, as well as developing compelling value propositions to encourage prospective members to join.
- Relationship Building: Foster meaningful connections with members by understanding their interests, concerns, and goals. Act as a primary point of contact for member inquiries, feedback, and requests, ensuring their needs are met and issues are resolved promptly.
- Member Benefits: Work closely with internal staff to ensure members are aware of and utilize the various benefits offered by the association. Regularly communicate updates, new offerings, and exclusive opportunities to members, demonstrating the value of their membership. Provide onboarding communication to new members and provide ongoing improvements to while also following an existing membership journey communication strategy.
- Data Analysis: Utilize data and analytics tools to monitor member engagement metrics, identify trends, and assess the effectiveness of engagement strategies. Continuously refine and optimize engagement initiatives based on insights derived from data analysis.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with staff and consultants, including marketing, communication and event planning, to ensure a cohesive and consistent approach to member engagement. Coordinate with others to leverage resources and deliver high-quality experiences to members.
- Thought Leadership Engagement: Actively recruit new and existing employees of member firms to get involved on forums, committees, coalitions, and listservs task forces (both in Colorado and through ACEC National). Includes serving as staff liaison on several of these forums, committees, etc., and communicating key messages and initiatives to and from these members, preparing agendas and facilitate member involvement in advocacy efforts when related to these forums, committees, coalitions and task forces.
- Reporting & Budgeting: Prepare regular reports on member engagement activities, outcomes, and trends for annual report. Assist in budget planning and management, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support member engagement goals.
- Perform general office and other duties as needed/assigned
- Attend ACEC Colorado functions and events
- Serve as a staff liaison to forums/committees/coalitions/task forces as assigned, including working with volunteer leadership to schedule regular meeting times, draft and distribute agendas, and send meeting reminders
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This position is located in Denver, CO
- This is not a remote position and requires working from the association’s Denver office Monday through Thursday during regular operating hours.
- This position reports directly to the Executive Director
- This position serves ACEC Colorado, ACEC Colorado Scholarship & Education Foundation, and
- Consulting Engineers Political Action Committee
- Regular work on computers
- Some local travel required
- Possibility of evenings and weekends required for conferences/special events
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience working in a membership-based association
- Experience working in a customer service environment
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to work on a team comprised of both internal staff and external consultants
- Ability to supervise professional consultants and vendors
- Interest in learning industry-specific terminology
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Willingness to use AP Style for all external communication
- Bachelor’s degree with major in business, marketing or related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Pro DC
- Experience using project management software (Asana)
- Understanding of hybrid work-meeting environment software (Asana, Slack and Zoom)
- Experience with database management, preferably association management software
- Basic knowledge of general office equipment
- Ability to lift and move up to 30 lbs.
- Legal authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
- License to operate a motor vehicle or access to transportation for some work-related travel

Compensation
This position is exempt under the professional exemption.
Competitive pay range - $61,000-$75,000- commensurate with experience
