ATA Services, Inc. is currently seeking to hire a Medical Clerk on a temporary assignment with the Department of Health.
- Pay Rate: $25.00/Per Hour
- Start Date: ASAP
- Location: Las Cruces, NM, Truth or Consequences, NM, and Deming, NM.
- Schedule: Full Time, Monday-Friday 8 A.M-5 P.M
The purpose of the clerk is to promote health, and wellness, improve health outcomes and assure safety net services for all New Mexicans by providing clerical and clinical services for a variety of Public Health Programs such as COVID testing and immunizations in the Southern Region.
Goals:
- Provide Clerical Clinical Services in a courteous and respectful manner, maintaining confidentiality to clients by performing daily and monthly duties in a clean, efficient, professional, well-organized, safe environment for clients.
- Greets clients and answers phone calls in a professional, receptive manner providing your name and asking how they may be assisted.
- Schedule clients appointments for the same day or the next day. The clerk will call scheduled clients the day before their scheduled appointment to confirm an appointment.
- Assists with taking inventory, ordering, and re-stocking of exam rooms. lab, and phlebotomy room.
- Check sharp containers weekly, replace when full. Collect and dispose of hazardous material from red bins weekly.
- Complete and document temperature logs and disinfection of laboratory and exam rooms daily with provided disinfectant.
- Enter registration data accurately after being acknowledged. The clerk will assure client data is updated at each visit before the client is seen by the nurse or provider.
- Print immunization records for scheduled clients when they are being registered for their appointment visit and place them in the folder for RN or vaccinator.
- Check the Medicaid Portal and HealthXNet for each client register.
- Enter data correctly into NMSIIS and Transact for outreach events within two weeks of receiving forms.
- Travel as needed to other public health offices in the Southern Region to provide services.
- Provide direct clinical support of the Southern Region's Covid testing sites and Covid and Influenza immunization efforts.
- Organize testing supplies, PPE, test kits prior to the event. Assist in setting up test events and pick up afterward.
- Perform COVID-19 testing and/or vaccine at the designated testing sites.
- Assist with inventory after events to keep Region informed of available supplies and inform DOH staff if supplies are needed.
- Assist with filling and sorting for old records following DOH guidelines.
- Assist with administrative duties pre-printing labels, preparing requisitions forms, and preparing the report after testing events. Review lab results and notify clients of their lab results.
- Organize testing kits prior to events and cleaning after testing events.
- Travel as needed to other public health offices in the Southern Region to provide services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- An Associate's degree in a health-related field is highly desirable.
- Strong computer skills in MS Office.
- Bilingual a plus
- Analytical Skills.
- The ability to teach and train others in processes and procedures.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills in both oral and written form.
- The ability to work with a diverse group of people.
- Must present a professional image and demeanor.
