Position Summary
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist holds a key position in our Purchasing Department and is responsible for managing supplier relationships, formal bids and their evaluation, promoting supplier performance risk mitigation and continuous improvement activities, resolving performance issues, negotiating costs, and managing supplier contracts. Also is a major contributor to developing and executing sourcing strategies as well as recommending product innovations based on improving technology. This position requires an interest in market dynamics, negotiation and pricing, manufacturing processes and risk mitigation.
Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Supply Chain Director, take part in the responsibility for achieving strategic sourcing goals within the RIX Strategic Sourcing program.
- Participate in establishing short-term and long range planning and budget development of the company to support strategic business goals
- Supports the development of purchasing policies, particularly those that relate to strategic sourcing, and promotes compliance within the company
- Coordinate with the Demand Planning and Manufacturing Planning functions, supporting the development of aligned Sales and Operations plans
- Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base issues in order to minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and utilize emerging opportunities
- Evaluate supplier core competencies and develop supplier relationships through regular visits (supplier meetings, conferences, etc.), both domestic and internationally, as required.
- Research and anticipate shifts in the negotiating power of suppliers utilizing industry cost indices and cost models
- Develop and implement sourcing and supplier selection strategy domestically and internationally.
- Issue RFIs (Request for Information), RFPs (Request for Proposals), and RFQs (Request for Quotes).
- Negotiate supplier agreements/contracts working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions
- Responsible for negotiating the best possible cost service guarantee and develop win-win strategies that achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers
- Implement, and project manage, a supplier development program at key suppliers including metrics, performance goals and improvement initiatives
- Continuously promote improvements in productivity and process efficiency within the company
- Contribute to the professional development of Purchasing team members
- Perform all other duties in the best interest of the company or as directed by the Supervisor
- Must be able to travel approximately 25% of the time both domestically and internationally.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree Preferred and at least Three (3) years purchasing/strategic sourcing experience along with 2+ year's relevant operations/supply chain experience
- Experience with contract manufacturing vendors
- Strong preference for some international sourcing experience
- Strongly prefer precision electro-mechanical part/component sourcing experience
- Ability to manage projects and establish clear goals and accountabilities to ensure successful delivery (on time, within budget, meeting agreed upon success criteria)
- Knowledge of the legal terminology and language related to supplier and/or vendor agreements and contracts
- Advanced systems skills and working knowledge of MS Office, with advanced Excel knowledge
- Knowledge of ERP and procurement tools, systems, and processes.
- Must have excellent presentation and communication skills
- Ability to communicate with others to exchange information both orally and in writing.
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or qualified U.S. Person in accordance with ALU 22CFR 120.15.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or professional certification (CPSM, CPM, CSCP, etc) is a plus.
- Working knowledge of FARs, DFARs, ISO9001, and AS9100.

Must have the following physical abilities:
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, reach, and lift.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at a desk or table as well as machine tools or printers.
