Our client, a contemporary art and design gallery, is seeking a Director of Content & Communications, Art & Design Gallery to join their team onsite in their NYC office. The ideal candidate has experience in auction houses or contemporary art galleries who specialized in content creation, photography, editorial work, and digital video.
Job Duties Include:
- Oversee brand management, including assets, press releases, web content, and signage
- Manage advertising and public relations portfolio
- Handle talent management including development, issues, and track contracts with artists and designers
- Liaise between artists and the gallery
- Coordinate exhibitions including developing concepts, managing proposals, logistics, installation, etc.
- Oversee website concept, development, and management
- Manage social media including ideation, content creation, and analytics
- Write essays and design publications
- Direct photography projects
- Manage archives
- Collaborate on special projects with external curators, galleries, artists, and partners
Job Qualifications Include:
- 3+ years of management experience in a contemporary art and design gallery or similar experience at a museum, auction house, or arts organization
- Preferred: BA in Art Administration/History or related field
- Extensive client, curator, and press interaction experience
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience participating in international art fairs
- Knowledge of the contemporary art market
- Proficiency in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign)
- Some experience in video editing
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficient with Mac computers
- Strong English language skills
Salary: $50k-100K + bonus
