About the Job:
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Grant Specialist will play an important role in maintaining and increasing grant funding to enable Gladney to provide services to meet clients’ evolving needs. The Grant Specialist will steward existing grantors to increase overall retention and giving levels, while also focusing on new grantor identification.
The Grant Specialist will work closely and collaboratively with the Director of Development to implement a grant writing/project management plan that is based on Agency strategy and with the Development team to achieve the organization’s goals and objectives, including executing a 4M+ fundraising annual budget, 500K+ of which is grant funding.
Responsibilities
- Manage relationships with public, family, and corporate foundation grantors.
- Research new grant opportunities.
- Draft, compile, and submit grant applications and reports.
- Maintain digital records of grant applications and communications in donor database.
- Run and analyze program and grant reports, and track grant statuses and requirements.
- Collaborate with Development and Accounting teams on budgets, restrictions, and compliance.
- Maintain the agency's online charity profiles.
- Support annual philanthropic strategies with the Director of Development and team.
- Foster positive relationships with staff to enhance foundation relationships and giving.
- Meet or exceed annual fundraising goals.
- Network with grant professionals and attend community events.
- Assist with other fundraising and development activities as needed.
Skills Required
- Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills to articulate complex concepts and convey the organization’s mission effectively.
- Ability to synthesize information, analyze data, and create compelling grant applications and reports.
- Knowledgeable about nonprofit financial documents, accounting, and grant management.
- Detail-oriented, process-minded, organized, and proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
- Curious, critical thinker with a strong work ethic and project management skills to meet deadlines.
- Positive, client-focused, self-motivated, and team-oriented, able to build trust and work well with diverse groups.
- Solution-focused, noticing trends and adjusting strategies as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years+ of grant writing/project management experience.
- Demonstrated success managing a portfolio of grantors and receiving four and five-figure level grants.
- Ability to use data and CRM systems to set grant fundraising strategy and priorities, measure outcomes, and drive superior performance.
