Derflan is actively seeking a creative and experienced Commercial Lead Demo Storyteller to join our team on a long-term contract basis, working closely with our client, Microsoft. This role is ideal for someone passionate about storytelling, technology, and driving engagement through innovative demo experiences.
We are seeking a Demo Storyteller who will design and deliver compelling stories based on features to Microsoft's existing and potential users. The successful candidate will contribute to the creation and execution of demo experiences that highlight the value of new features. This role demands a professional with strong storytelling skills, technical acumen, and the ability to collaborate across teams to drive impactful marketing initiatives.
Annual Base Salary: $135,000-$150,000
Location: Must be local and able to work at the Microsoft office ~2x per week and visit the production studio as needed

Role Summary:
We are looking for a storytelling demo and experiences specialist who can help the the team at Microsoft design and deliver innovative and compelling stories based on Windows Commercial features. The right candidate will possess creative, technical, and analytical skills with a strong focus on storytelling. Using these skills, the candidate will identify key opportunities to create experiences that set Microsoft's brand apart and appeal.
In this role, you will identify, examine, and demonstrate user journeys through well-designed demo experiences for commercial needs and developers. You will collaborate closely with Microsoft's Product Marketing teammates to understand and leverage critical marketing scenarios to build demo experiences that can help grow the market. In this effort, you will shape and drive the Windows storytelling, communicating the value of new and exciting experiences in Windows.
Responsibilities:
- Manage cross-team partnerships and relationships with inbound, outbound, and GTM marketing to establish a shared strategic storytelling demo framework, vision, plans, and roadmap.
- Create, demonstrate, and present how Microsoft products and services work and how they can meet customer needs.
- Provide product scenarios and examples of impact.
- Answer questions about product features, specifications, compatibility, usage, etc.
- Collect feedback and share it with the relevant teams.
- Stay updated on the latest Microsoft products and services.
- Identify how to scale demo concepts from consumer to commercial.
- Determine the optimal demo format for scaling – video, script, etc.
Qualifications: Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to think strategically, work effectively in ambiguous situations, respond favorably to change, execute effectively under deadline pressure, and manage multiple projects.
- Program/Project Management experience, preferably at a technology company.
- High proficiency in verbal and written communication, including professional presentation skills, able to interact with diverse groups.
- Previous experience as a product demonstrator, storyteller, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft products and services with a focus on the commercial audience.
- Familiarity with M365 and other relevant product demo tenants.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Day in the Life:
- Collaborate on technical preparation and event production needs/logistics.
- Partner closely to define storytelling opportunities.
- Ideate and create compelling product stories for launch moments.
- Measure and monitor Demo Hub.
- Use data and telemetry for informed delivery of Storybook priorities.
- Partner closely with Microsoft's Product Groups.
- Influence RDX product development.
- Provide strategic guidance on creative execution.
- Support Retail Tech Bench Program.
- Support Retail Display & Windows upgrade paths.

- Drive offers.
- Design creative assets.
- Work directly with partner creative agencies.
- Write marketing messaging.
- Develop or publish RDX content for delivery.
