In this role you will:
- Float throughout Suffolk County locations
- Follow all New York Cancer and Blood Specialists policies and procedures
- Update and maintain all electronic patient records and assist in transitioning hard copy records to digital format
- Manage Physician inbox and prioritize tasks assigned via ONCO EMR
- Perform office callbacks to patients, physicians, and other healthcare facilities
- Assist in maintaining the medical inventory and placing orders for new materials as needed
- Clean and prepare examination rooms before patient appointments
- Record patient information such as vital signs, weight, and changes in medical history before each appointment
- Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, and document all information in the patient’s chart and open wallboards for the patient to self-complete any outstanding documents needed
- Record patient interview, history, and chief complaint
- Providepatient education concerning medications, management of diseases, home treatments, and special diets
- Preparepatients for examinations, performroutine screening tests, and assistphysicians with exams
- Performbasic lab tests such as phlebotomy, collection of other lab specimens, and EKGs
- Prepareand administer Injections and documentmedication under a physician’s order, followthe five (5) medication rights, and reduce the potential for medical error
We require:
- Current NYS LPN license required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
- Previous experience in a lead role or demonstrated potential to act in a lead capacity
- Previous outpatient experience preferred
- Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals
- Proficiency in OncoEMR
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching
- Frequent exposure to chemicals, blood-borne pathogens, and patient bodily fluids
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Travel to any of the NYCBS locations
Hours: Monday-Friday
Salary up to $36 per hour commensurate with experience and education.
