Summary:
The Travel Charge Operating Room Nurse (OR Nurse) oversees the daily operations and management of the operating room in various healthcare facilities. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, clinical expertise, and the ability to adapt quickly to new environments. The Travel Charge OR Nurse ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care, efficient workflow, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Supervision:
- Lead and supervise a team of OR nurses and support staff.
- Coordinate and assign daily tasks and duties to ensure smooth operations.
- Mentor and support staff in clinical and professional development.
- Patient Care:
- Provide direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Monitor patients' vital signs, assess their condition, and administer medications as needed.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the perioperative process.
- Operational Management:
- Oversee the scheduling of surgeries and allocation of OR resources.
- Ensure the availability and functionality of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Manage inventory and supply levels, ordering as necessary.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to established protocols, policies, and safety standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and infection control practices.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Facilitate effective communication among the surgical team and other departments.
- Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during surgeries.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with relevant experience may be considered.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Certification in Operating Room Nursing (CNOR) preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Operating Room Nurse.
- Previous experience in a charge or supervisory role preferred.
- Experience with travel nursing and adaptability to different healthcare settings.
- Skills:

- Excellent clinical and critical thinking abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle high-stress situations and make quick decisions.
