Under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Patient Care Services, performs function of an office nurse for family practice, by carrying out all assignments given by the MD/PA or Nurse Practitioner in a safe, appropriate and timely manner. Promotes a positive atmosphere within the Health Center/Office for patients, families and co-workers. Responsible for the preparation of the patient to be seen by MD/PA or Nurse Practitioner, including data inquiry and entry on the medical record, phlebotomy, specimen collection for laboratory testing performed on site and any other testing performed on site. Responsible for continuation of patient care by performing scheduling of testing, consult referrals, obtaining insurance referrals, notification of test results to the patient and follow-up calls. Requires general knowledge of adult and pediatric immunizations. Must perform functions of receptionist as needed to assist in the overall operations of the Health Center/office, ensuring efficient patient flow and delivery of care. Requires excellent telephone and organizational skills.
