The Jefferson Regional Foundation is a grantmaker focused on the health and well-being of the South Hills and lower Mon Valley communities outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of the community served by Jefferson Hospital through grantmaking, education and outreach. The Foundation is expanding its small team and is seeking a full time Communications Coordinator to develop and drive a communications strategy that will raise awareness about the Foundation’s initiatives and the communities within the Foundation’s footprint. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to join an equity centered team.
The Communications Coordinator initiates the direct and creative awareness of the Foundation’s brand, mission, and key offerings of grantmaking, community engagement and community driven-research. Bring your creative ideas to life as you collaborate in the development of comprehensive marketing, communication and engagement strategies as part of the larger organizational plan.
What will I do?
Develop communication strategies while initiating and implementing operational communication processes and implementation.
- Content Creation – Assist with compelling content creation for various channels, including website, social media, newsletters, marketing materials, and press releases, incorporating language and visuals that promote diversity, equity, and representation.
- Digital Marketing – Manage the Foundation’s digital presence across all platforms to engage stakeholders and drive awareness of Foundation initiatives.
- Media and Community Relations – Cultivate relationships with local media outlets and community partners to enhance visibility and support for the Foundation.
- Messaging and Branding – Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication and outreach efforts.
- Analytics – Monitor and analyze communication metrics to assess effectiveness and campaign success, including recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Nonprofit Research – Take the lead on researching trends and best practices in nonprofit communication practices utilized in philanthropy, and community engagement.
What will make you a great fit:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field. Equivalent relevant experience also considered.
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years’ experience, preferably in professional writing, communications, marketing and/or website and social media management.
- Nonprofit experience is a plus.
- A passion for community development, social justice, and health equity; ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people in a team culture that is committed to equity.
- Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, politically astute, with the ability to work directly for the CEO and with strategic partners.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with ability to remain deft and agile while working across functional teams to meet organizational targets.
- Experience with developing and implementing successful communication strategies and campaigns.
- Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, content management systems, social media management tools, and email marketing software.
- Technology skills to include Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Creative Suite, Zoom, and more.
- Excellent communication ability, both verbal and written.
Compensation: $52-$60,000 annually
